Additional: Jerry Edgar Schaffer, 55, Pilot Point, Texas, formerly of St. Marys, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at Wilson Jones Medical Center in Sherman, Texas. He was born Feb. 10, 1945, in Celina, the son of Edgar and Hazel Nevergall (Poppe) Schaffer. On Nov. 14, 1964, he married Charla Kay Martin, who survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Stacy (Jerry) Nicholas of Bartonville Texas, and Kerry Schaffer of Dallas, Texas; a son, Jeff Harting of Evanston, Ill.; a sister Carol McDonald of St. Marys; a brother, Oscar Schaffer of Reading, Mich.; three grandchildren, Samantha, Sara and Jared Nicholas of Bartonville, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother James Schaffer. Mr. Schaffer attended school in St. Marys, He was owner of the Bow Tie Shop in Texas, where he restored classic Corvettes. He served as a judge for the NCRS. He was a member of Tioga United Methodist Church in Tioga, Texas. Graveside services were held Friday in Tioga Cemetery in Tioga, Texas, with the Rev. Dee Morton of Tioga United Methodist Church officiating.
