Additional: Raymond H. Ruvoldt, 76, 550 Locust Street, St. Marys, died last evening at 10:30 at the Joint Township Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for five days. He had been in ill health since November. He was born July 23, 1895, in Botkins, a son of Charles and Caroline Katterhenry Ruvoldt (Ruwoldt). On April 28, 1928, he married Lulu M. Howell who survives with two sons, James Ruvoldt and Samuel Ruvoldt, both of St. Marys, and a daughter, Mrs. Ervin (Marlene) Shelby, St. Marys; four grand children; two great grandchildren; one brother, Wilson Ruvoldt, Lima and two half-sisters, Mrs. Gerald (Marcella) Johnson, Jackson, Mich., and Mrs. Harold (Frances) Ahlers, New Bremen. A son, three brothers, one half-brother, and one-half sister preceded him in death. Mr. Ruvoldt was a retired Goodyear employee, a member of the St. Paul's United Church of Christ, the Robert Lee Griner Post 9289 of VFW., the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 767. He was a member of Company K of the U.S. Army in the Mexican Border Skirmish of 1916, and of the Rainbow Division, 37th Regiment, in 1917, in World War I. On December 29, 1918, he was awarded the French medal for bravery, the Croix de Guerre, for rescuing the wounded under heavy attack during the German offensive in Champagne, while with the 16th Regiment of the American infantry. He served in France, Germany, and Belgium. Funeral services are arranged for Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Yoder-Long and Folk Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard Poetter officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens, where full military rites will be conducted by the VFW Post.
