Additional: Gustave A. Hoge, 77, buyer and supervisor of the sawmill at the Hoge Lumber Co., New Knoxville, died at 11:35 a.m. Thursday at the Joint Township District Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hoge, who lives at 517 S. Main St., New Knoxville, had been hospitalized for the past three months, both at the local hospital and at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 24, 1898, in New Knoxville, the son of Herman and Mary Oelrich Hoge. On Sept. 11, 1926, he married Mary A. Steinecker, who survives along with four children, Robert R. Hoge of Birmingham, Mich., Ned W. Hoge of Akron, Mrs. Robert (Mary Anne) Hirschfeld of Plattner Road, St. Marys, and Mrs. Don (Ruth) List of Columbus; 11 grandchildren; six sisters, Mrs. Clyde (Rebecca) Tschantz of Lisbon, Mrs. E.J. (Marcella) Hoelscher of South Bend, Ind., Mrs. Esther Dalton of Bremerton, Wash., Mrs. Olga Hartwig of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Mrs. Kermit (Bella) Kuck of Sidney; and two brothers, Joel W. and Oliver H. Hoge, both of New Knoxville. Mr. Hoge was a member of the First United Church of Christ of New Knoxville, the Sunday School class of the church, the New Knoxville Senior Citizens and the New Knoxville Civic Association. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the first United Church of Christ with the Rev. Gary Kwiatek officiating. Burial will be in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery. Friends may call at the Yoder-Long & Folk Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The body will lie in state at the church from 12:30 p.m. Sunday until the time of services. The family requests that those who wish to make memorial contributions, direct them to the cancer fund.
