Additional: Arthur F. Hoge, age 75, 203 South St. Marys Street, New Knoxville, secretary-treasurer and part owner of the Hoge Lumber Co., died at 1 a.m. today at University Hospital, Columbus. Cancer was the cause of death. Although Mr. Hoge had been ill for some time, he was able to work as usual until last week. He had been hospitalized only three days. Mr. Hoge was active in church and community affairs and also took an active role in Lumbermen's organizations, on a state and national scale. He was well known in the New Knoxville community for his furtherance of projects for the community's betterment. He was born Nov. 21, 1896, in New Knoxville, the son of Herman and Mary Oelrich Hoge. On May 28, 1925, he maried Meta Meckstroth, who is left to mourn his death along with their three sons, William H. Hoge, Flemington, N. J., John H. Hoge, New Knoxville, and Dean R. Hoge, Princeton, N.J. eight grandchildren, 10 brothers and sisters, Mrs. Laura Lageman, New Knoxville, Mrs. Clyde (Rebecca) Tschantz, Lisbon, O., Mrs. Enoch (Marcella) Hoelscher, South Bend., Ind., Mrs. Richard (Bertha) Roser, Wapakoneta, Mrs. Esther Dalton, Bremerton, Wash., Joel W. Hoge, New Knoxville, Mrs. Olga Hardwig, Walnut Creek, Calif, Mrs. Kermit (Ella) Kuck, Sidney, and Oliver H. Hoge, New Knoxville, and a great many friends. Three brothers died in infancy. Mr. Hoge was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, World War I. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville. he was a 50 year member of the Washington Post 444, American Legion, New Knoxville. He was a member for many years of the Forest Advisory Committee of the Ohio Forestry Association. Mr. Hoge was interested in the furtherance of relations between the New Knoxville Community and Ladbergen, the ancestral home of many New Knoxville residents. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville, with the Rev. Kenneth H. Worthman officiating. Burial will take place in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery.
