Additional: John Arthur Burd, 79, of 212 N. Cherry St., St. Marys, died at 10:50 a.m. Sunday in Joint Township Disrict Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug 26, 1902 in Paulding County, the son of Edward and Alice (Russell) Burd. On Dec. 22, 1926, he married Agnes Ridenour who survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Luella) Muter of Celina; Mrs. Edward (Evelyn) Horn, of Poland, Ohio; four sons, Arthur and Richard, both of St. Marys; William and Harry, both of Celina; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister Sadie Davis of Winter Garden, Fla.; and a brother, Wilbur of St. Marys. A grandson was killed in Vietnam. Four brothers, Walter, George, Alonzo, and Alva; and two sisters, Margaret Link and Nellie Lydia preceded him in death. Mr. Burd was a retired employee of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. He was a member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 767. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Miller Funeral Home with elder Wilbur Sawmiller officiating. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
