Additional: The Rev. Hermon C. Watson, 101, 179 Koenig Road, St. Marys, died at 8 p.m. March 15 at Otterbein Retirement Community in St. Marys. He was born Feb. 27, 1900, in Bethel Ridge, Ky., to Huston and Emma (Ashley) Watson. On July 10, 1919, he married Ocia Apple, who died Dec. 29, 1979. He then married Frances Warvel Fetters on Jan. 9, 1981, and she died Aug. 8, 1992. Survivors are two sons and their wives, the Rev. Luther and Billie, Bourbonnais, Ill., and the Rev. Roy and Juanita, Englewood; two daughters and their husbands, Violet and the Rev. James Weeks, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Ruth and the Rev. John Wine, St. Marys; a stepson and his wife, Robert and Carol Warvel, Crossville, Tenn., a stepdaughter, Jean Leas, Vincennes, Ind. and a stepdaughter-in-law, Barbara Warvel, Greenville; two sisters, Ora Spears, Bethel Ridge, and Essie Hines, Cincinnati; 16 grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, 39 greatgrandchildren, 22 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild. Deceased are four brothers, Noel, Herschel, William and Jerry; and a half sister, Irene Sweet. He was ordained in 1934 and began his pastoral ministry with a three-church circuit at Delmar, Faubush and Nancy, all in Kentucky. He held another pastorate in Irwin, Ky. He also spent 37 years as pastor at five different churches in Ohio, including at Cincinnati, Toledo-Waldbridge, Franklin, Williamsburg and Ashtabula. He was involved in the establishment of the Nazarene district center in St. Marys and was a member of First Nazarene Church in St. Marys. He also was a member of the St. Marys Men's Garden Club. Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at the Nazarene District Center in St. Marys, the Revs. Claude Nicholas and Larry Fairbanks officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys. Calling is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys. Contributions can be made to the Hermon Watson Memorial Fund at the Nazarene district camp center or to the church.
