Additional: John Vanover, age 82, of Merom, Ind., died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Vernon Howell, 804 Oil Street. He had been ill of carcinoma for the last year. Since coming to St. Marys four and a half months ago from Merom, Mr. Vanover had stayed with his daughters, Mrs. Howell and Mrs. Daniel Rogers. He was a retired building contractor. Mr. Vanover was born Oct. 4, 1875, in Crawford County, Ill., a son of the late John Henry and Hannah Lake Vanover. He was a third cousin to President Abraham Lincoln. Mr. Vanover married Linnie Kinman on Sept 25, 1898. She died Aug 22, 1945. Survivng him are five children, Mrs. Vernon (Opal) Howell, St. Marys, Mrs. Eldon J. (Sylvia) Skaggs, Stoy, Ill., Mrs. Audrey Hitchen and Mrs. Daniel (Edith) Rogers, both of St. Marys and Mrs. Paul (Bonnie) Browder of Hardinville, Ill., 38 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. Five children died in infancy and five brothers and sisters preceded him in death. He had formerly resided in St. Marys and was employed by Weston Paper Manufacturing Company during that time. Funeral services are arranged for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Yoder and Long Funeral Home with the Rev. William R. Fausey in charge. Burial will take place in Elmgrove cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after Tuesday noon.
