Additional: Soloman Shepherd, 74, Wapakoneta, died at 4 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at his daughter's home. He was born Feb. 12, 1927, in Delphia, Ky., the son of Enoch R. and Ella (Adams) Shepherd. Survivors include a daughter, Ella "Jeannie" Shepherd Snider of Wapakoneta; two sons, Ronnie (Norma) Shepherd of Middletown and Matthew Shepherd of Dayton; three brothers, Oscar (Helen) Shepherd of Winchester, Ky., Benny Shepherd of Delphia, Ky., and Herman (Patty) Shepherd of Howell, Mich.; and two sisters, Clara Halcomb of Delphia, Ky., and Irene (Cebert) Scott of Tazwell, Tenn. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bentley and infants Willard and Harrison. Mr. Shepherd had worked 15 years at the Jewel Ridge Coal Mine Co. in Delphia, Ky., and 32 years at the Able Drywall Co. in Dayton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. Funeral services will be at noon Thursday at the Stoneyfork Baptist Church in Delphia, Ky., with the Rev. Johnny Sexton officiating. Burial will follow at the Whispering Pines Cemetery in Delphia, Ky., where military graveside services will be conducted. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Local arrangements are being handled by the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta.
