Additional: Roger F. Shaner, 73, Huntsville, died at 1 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 13, 1927, at Auglaize County to Orlo V. and Norma C. (Cummins) Shaner. On Sept 3, 1949, he married Joanne Moore, who survives. Other survivors include four children and their spouses, Rhonda and Walt Salyers of Lawrenceville, Ga., Richie and Sandra Shaner of Huntsville, Rex and Diann Shaner of Jackson Center, Rodney Shaner of Lima; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Brooks Knoch of Wapakoneta; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Martha Shaner of Jackson Center, Reed and Lois Shaner of New Hampshire; and an aunt Nila Cummins, Russells Point. He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. Mr. Shaner was a retiree of Penn Central/Conrail. He was a tower operator. He was a member of Logan County Standard Bred Association which he served as president and U. S. Trotting Association. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Van Horn Funeral Home, Lakeview, with Karen Blackburn officiating. His body will be cremated. Memorials may be directed to the Mad River Dialysis Center, 130 Dowell Ave., Bellefontaine.
