She was born Feb. 12, 1929, in Covington, Ky., to Richard and Marie (Rauf) Lehman. On July 1, 1950, she married James E. Staton, who died Jan. 11, 1992. Surviving are three sons, James R. (Elaine), Robert (Gwen) and Michael (Jeanette), all of New Bremen; three daughters, Kathy (Dave) Bergman, Sanford, Fla., Deb (Dan) Koverman, Minster, and Karen Koverman, Troy; a brother, Richard (Sophie) Lehman, Norwood; 21 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Deceased are a brother, Don Lehman, and a sister, Jeanne Boyd. She worked at the former Hotel Bar in New Bremen for several years. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Redeemer and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 241, both of New Bremen, and a former New Bremen Girl Scout leader. In 1987, she was named Mother of the Year by The Evening Leader. Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. James F. Trick officiating. Burial will follow at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen. Contributions can be made to the New Bremen Girl Scouts.
