Additional: Silas L. Opperman, 85, of 227 N. Hickory St., St. Marys, died at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 1991, in St. Joseph Hospital, Ft. Wayne, Ind. Born October 8, 1905, in New Knoxville, he was the son of George and Caroline (Kuck) Opperman. On June 25, 1946, he married Irma M. Althoff who survives along with his sister, Mrs. Eugene (Luella) Fast of Findley. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Mr. Opperman was a retired employee of the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, St. Marys and member of the St. Paul's United Church of Christ, St. Marys. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, with Rev. Carl J. Mohr officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
