Additional: Vernon W. Nuesmeyer, 75, of 326 Cleveland Ave. St. Marys, died at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, in Joint Township District Memorial Hospital wwhere he had been hospitalized for five weeks. Born September 7, 1915, in New Knoxville; he was the son of William and Mahala (Stukenbrok) Nuesmeyer. On May 18, 1939, he married Emogene Lisk, who survives. Also surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Paul Wibbeler of St. Marys; three grandchildren, Beth Crouch and Doug and Bruce Wibbeler, all of St. Marys; a great-grandson, Aaron Crouch; two brothers, Robert and Forest Nuesmeyer of Route 2, Wapakoneta; and one sister, Mrs. Gary (LaRose) Theis of Lafayette. One sister Mildred Egbert preceded him in death. Mr. Nuesmeyer was a retired engineer for the Nickel Plate Railroad. He was a member of the Wayne Street United Methodist Church of which he served as a trustee. Mr. Nuesmeyer was nationally known for his knife making. He was an avid fisherman and gardener and a member of the St. Marys Men's Garden Club, St. Marys Tree Commmission, the Moulton Gun Club, the Old Fashioned Antique Farmers and assisted in the building of the old canal boat, the Belle of St. Marys. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Miller Funeral Home with Rev. David Woodyard officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens. His family will receive friends in the Funeral home from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Wayne Street United Methodist Church.
