Additional: John Sylvester Noonan, age 83, 610 North Spruce Street, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday at the family residence after an extended illness with a complication of diseases. He was a retired school teacher, having served for 25 years as a teacher in the rural schools and as a substitute for some years thereafter. He was born here in St. Marys on January 5, 1870, the son of the late Daniel and Lucinda Seibert Noonan. On September 2, 1914 he married Mary A. Lemkuhl who survives him along with five children, Richard Noonan, 1013 Broadway Avenue, Piqua; Robert Noonan, 534 East Ormsby, Louisville, Kentucky; Miss Mildred Noonan, St. Marys, Mrs. Richard Uhlenhake and Mrs. Arthur Drees of St. Marys; 14 grandchildren and one brother, Andrew Noonan, Portland, Oregon. A daughter, Virginia and four brothers are deceased. There are many friends. He was a lifelong member of Holy Rosary church and a member of the Holy Name Society. Funeral services are arranged for 9:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Rosary Catholic church. A solemn requiem high mass will be offered by the Rev. Leo Lemkuhl of Norwalk, celebrant, Rev. John Lemkuhl, Delphos, deacon and the Rev. Harold Bernard subdeacon. The Rev. Frs. Lemkuhl are nephews of Mrs. Noonan. Burial will take place in Gethsemane cemetery. The body will be removed from the Vore & Folk Funeral Home to his own residence where friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening. Members of Holy Name Society and men of the parish will meet at the residence at 7:30 Thursday evening to offer prayers for the deceased.
