Additional: New Bremen—Roland S. Meckstroth, 63, 4453 Lock Two Road, died following an extended illness at 11:35 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 1996, at his residence. He was born Sept. 22, 1932, north of New Bremen to Edward and Hilda (Kettler) Meckstroth. On April 16, 1955, he married Sally Kohler, who survives. He is also survived by a daughters Sherry Meckstroth, Ft. Loramie; two sons, Jeff of St. Marys; Greg, New Bremen; a grandson, Jacob Meckstroth; four brothers, Earl and Reuben, both of New Bremen; Norman, Celina; Ralph, Wapakoneta; and a sister, Mrs. John (LaRue) Dicke. Mr. Meckstroth was retired after 40 years at Goodyear-St. Marys. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of American Legion Post 241. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman and a member of the New Bremen Rod and Gun Club and the Dover Gun Club of Ontario, Canada. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gilberg Funeral Home with the Rev. John W. Tostrick officiating. Burial with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion post, will be in German Protestant Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The preferred memorial is to Mercer County Hospice.
