Additional: John A. McDonald, 71, 1701 Nagel St., St. Marys, died at 6:45 p.m. Nov. 10 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind. He was born July 4, 1929, in Ohio City, to Raymond and Mary (Shingledecker) McDonald. On Sept. 16, 1972, he married Carol Schaffer, who survives. Other survivors are two sons and their wives, Ron and Julie Rupert, Whitesboro, Texas, and Russ and Deb Rupert, Botkins; a daughter and her husband, Roxanne and James Lengerich, St. Marys; two brothers, Raymond of Fort Myers, Fla., and William of Celina; two halfbrothers, Charlie Mayer, Coldwater, and Ron of Lima; four half sisters, Janet Hinton, Phoenix, Ariz., Grace Nutter, Cleveland, Beverly Boyters, Newport News, Va., and Ethel Markum of California. Deceased are a brother, Lowell, and a sister, Mary Catherine McCormick. He was retired as a buffer from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys, and was a U.S. Army and Air Force veteran. He was member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, American Legion Post 323, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289, all of St. Marys. Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Patricia Minnick officating. Burial is at Resthaven Memory Gardens near Moulton. Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Contributions can be made to the American Heart Fund.
