Additional: Eugene (Gene) Meckstroth, 84, died Thursday, June 1, 2000. He was born February 23, 1916 in St. Marys to Gustave J. and Matilda Meckstroth. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Susan Farquharson Meckstroth of Deshler, three daughters: Lyn Meckstroth-Slocomb of Fresno, Calif; Janice Meckstroth of Boston, Mass; and Mary Kennedy of LaMesa, Calif; a sister, Marie Ann Klein of San Marcos, Calif; and two granddaughters. Mr. Meckstroth attended St. Marys schools until he moved to Celina where he graduated from Celina High School in 1934. In 1941, he moved to San Diego where he retired in 1976 after 28 years employment with San Diego County.
