Additional: Going back into his burning house, presumably to rescue his wife and two childen, Dale Meckstroth, 27, died of smoke inhalation early today in a tragic happening at New Knoxville...Born April 26, 1942 to Ferd & Jennie Katterheinrich Meckstroth. Survivors include his parents, his wife, Sandra Lammers; his children, Dana Diane, 8, and Dirk Dale, 3, a brother Roland Meckstroth, St. Marys; a sister, Mrs. Marvin (Lois Jean) Schuller of New Knoxville, and his grandfather, Wesley Katterheinrich, of New Knoxville. Mr. Meckstroth was a member of the United Methodist Church and Moulton Gun Club. He was employed at Wapak Sand and Gravel. Funeral rites will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Raymond L. Thompson to officiate. Burial will follow in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery. Friends may call at the Vornholt funeral home in New Knoxville, after 1 p.m. Monday until 11 a.m. Tuesday when the body will be moved to the church to lie in state until the hour of rites. **The above obituary is included in a lengthy front page article detailing the fire.
