He was born April 3, 1919, in Burkettsville, to Frank and Lydia (Borches) Liette. On Jan. 27, 1945, he married Marcella Borgert, who died Feb. 20, 1999. Survivors are three sons and their wives, Gary and Susan, Roger and Maureen, and Dave and Nancy, all of St. Marys; three brothers and their wives, Butch and Clarine and Pete and Mary, all of Burkettsville, and Bill and Ruth of St. Marys; five sisters and their husbands, Loretta and Robert Stammen, North Star; Kate and Cy Dues, St. Henry; Emerita and Andy Grier, Troy; Marjorie and Joe Switt, Anna, and Charlene and Curly Pearson, Fort Recovery; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Deceased are two sisters, Rosie Hein and Dorothy Schafer. He was a retired dairy farmer and owned Liette and Sons Dairy, St. Marys. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, the American Trap Shooting Assoc., St. Marys Gun Club and Mercer County Sportsmenís Assoc. He was a 1977 World Champion trapshooter in the North American Clay Championship held in Vandalia. Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. David Heinl officiating. Burial is at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys. Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, where a prayer service is at 8 p.m. Contributions can be made to the church.
