Additional: Robert J. Kiefer, 80, 10800 State Route 364, St. Marys, died of an apparent heart attack late Tuesday morning, March 13, 2001, at his home. He was born June 17, 1920, in Wapakoneta, the son of Robert N. and Florence Tina (Koehn) Kiefer. Survivors include two nephews, Robert (Patty) Kiefer of St. Marys and William (Karen) Kiefer of Mendon; five nieces, Sandy Kiefer of Celina, Connie (Richard) Meinerding, Nancy (Donald) Brotherwood and Linda (Harry) Burd, all of St. Marys, and Betty Gilbert of Mendon; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, George Kiefer and William Keifer; two infant sisters; a niece Janet Sue Kiefer; and a nephew, Ricky Lee Kiefer. Mr. Kiefer was retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. of St. Marys after 32 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 767, both in St. Marys. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Long & Folk Funeral Home in St. Marys with the Rev. Joachim K. Wilck officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys. VFW Post 9289 will conduct full military rites at the cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
