Additional: Wapakoneta—Carolyn M. Jett, 91, Pusheta Road, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, at 6:15 a.m. at her residence. She was born March 30, 1907 in Washington Township to Benjamin O. and Anna Lageman Raberding. In 1935 she married Clifford R. Jett and he died in 1969. She is survived by two daughters: Ann and Anthony Williams of Westminster, CA and Mary and Donald Rohrbaugh of Wapakoneta; four grandchildren; Melissa Schneider of Wapakoneta, Michael D. Williams, Laguna Niguel, CA, Matthew Williams of Oakland, CA and Michelle Williams of Huntington Beach CA; her caregiver, Marilyn JAMES. She was preceded in death by twin children and three brothers; Cleo Raberding, Oscar Raberding, and Edgar Raberding. After attending school in New Knoxville and Wapakoneta, she graduated from Blume High School in 1925. She attended Bowling Green State University and graduated from Ohio Northern University in 1933. She began teaching in the one-room Burden School and Uniopolis School, both in Auglaize County. Later, she taught first grade at Cridersville and then Centennial Elementary in Wapakoneta from which she retired after 27 years of teaching. Mrs. Jett, a lifelong resident of Auglaize county was an 81 years member of the First United Methodist Church in Wapakoneta and a member of its United Methodist Women and the Susanna Unit. She was a member of the Auglaize County Retired Teachers Association, the Wapakoneta Women's Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. In 1997 she was honored by then Secretary of State Bob Taft for a perfect 50 years voting record. Her first ballot was cast in 1928, seven years after women gained the right to vote. Recently Mrs. Jett was honored as a continuous owner-descendent of the founder of the Raberding farm near New Knoxville where she was born. Her great-grandparents received a land grant from the government in the early 1940s. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church.
