Additional: Marjorie I. Heffner, 81, Cridersville, died at 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at Otterbein-Cridersville Skilled Nursing Center. She was born March 18, 1919, in St. Marys, the daughter of George Howard and Eva Jane (Shingledecker) Custer. On July 26, 1941, she married Leo Eugene "Gene" Heffner, who died Dec. 31, 1994. Survivors include two sons, Leo Eugene "Gene" (Linda) Heffner, Jr. of Spencerville and Terry D. (Patti) Heffner of Lima; a daughter, Nancy (Dr. David) Drake of Cincinnati; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six brothers, Verl "Sam" Custer, Earl "Jack" Custer, Alfred "Red" Custer, Lee Custer and Harold Custer and Cecil "Dutch" Rider; and a twin sister, Mary Eileen Scheer. A homemaker, Mrs. Heffner had been a cafeteria worker for Shawnee Public Schools. She was a member of Shawnee United Methodist Church and the Amadeus Club. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home in Cridersville with the Rev. Gloria Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lima. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Otterbein-Cridersville.
