Additional: Injured about 3 p.m. Thursday in an accident at the Hoge Lumber Co, New Knoxville, Carl G. Hoge of New Knoxville, died at 5:20 a.m. today in Joint Township Hospital, St. Marys. Lumber stacked on a dry-kiln car toppled over and struck Hoge as he was seated on a tractor. The car carrying the lumber was loaded about 10 feet high. The top 4 or 5 layers of lumber toppled. Four or five workers were witnesses to the accident. It could not be learned what caused the lumber to topple. It was believed that internal injuries caused his death. Born Nov. 20, 1928 in New Knoxville, he was a son of Gustave and Mary Stienecker Hoge, who survive. In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, the former Loletta Eversman, whom he married Aug. 26, 1950, two brothers, Ned W. Hoge, New Knoxville; Robert R, a student in England and two sisters, Ruth Hoge at home and Mrs. Robert (Mary Ann) Hirshfeld, St. Marys. Two children preceded him in death. A veteran of the Korean war he had worked at the lumber company since his release from service. He was a member of the American Legion Post No 444, New Knoxville, and the First Evangelical and Reformed church of that village. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the New Knoxville Evangelical and Reformed church with Rev. F. J. Lowenbergh officiating. Burial will be in Pilger Ruhe cemetery. Friends may call at the residence after 11 a.m. Sunday. Siferd funeral home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
