He was born Jan. 2, 1924, in Wapakoneta, to George and Louise (Kohler) Gehrlich. On Sept. 1, 1946, he married Ruth M. Grilliot who survives. Survivors are four sons and their wives, Ronald W. and Linda of Cincinnati, Jeffrey A. and Dianna of Fairfield, David L. and Judy of Fairfield, and Keith M. and Shannon of West Chester, and a son, James L. of New York City, N.Y.; three daughters and their husbands, Deborah and John Burden, Orlando, Fla., Karen and Pat Martens, Toledo, and Marsha and Rick Semple, Concord, N.C.; a brother and his wife, Edward and Frances of Wapakoneta; a sister and her husband, Mary Louise and Elmer Neumeier, Wapakoneta; 28 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Deceased is a son, Daniel S., four brothers, Cletus, Clarence, George, and Carl, and two sisters, Srs. Angelina and Tharcisa. He worked for Home Builder in Wapakoneta and Orlando, Fla. He was a member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, Orlando, Fla., and a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a member of the Eagles Lodge of Wapakoneta and Orlando. He was a graduate of the former St. Joseph High School, Wapakoneta. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, the Rev. Peter Chiodo officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery. Calling is 4-8 p.m. today at Long & Folk Funeral Home, Wapakoneta Chapel, with a Christian prayer service held at 8 p.m. Contributions can be made to breast cancer research.
