Bronchial pneumonia which developed last week was the immediate cause of death. It was while devotedly caring for her husband, an invalid due to creeping paralysis, that Mrs. Geiger suffered a cerebral hemmorrhage in 1933, making her an invalid. Mrs. Geiger was born Feb. 8, 1873, southeast of St. Marys, the daughter of the late William and Mary Katterheinrich Settlage. On Dec. 19, 1893, she was married to John F. Geiger who preceded her in death in 1940. Left to mourn her death are six daughters, Mrs. B.H. (Alma) Lutterbein, Edgerton, O, Mrs. T.C. (Clara) Deweese, Lima, the Misses Marguerite M., Edith W., Gertrude F., and Kathryn C. all at home; a sister, Mrs. Lewis (Pauline) Wehmeyer, R.R.1, New Bremen, and two brothers, William J. Settlage, New Knoxville and the Rev. Henry G. Settlage, Waukesha, Wis., seven grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren; her nurse, Miss Nellie Howe, who had aided her daughter, Miss Edith and other family members in caring for her the last ten years and a great many relatives and friends. Miss Edith had discontinued teaching at Springfield, O., in 1948 to care for her mother. Mrs. Geiger was baptised and confirmed in the First Evangelical and Reformed church at New Knoxville. After her marriage she became a member of Zion Lutheran church in this city and was active as long as her health permitted in attendance at the worship services and in the Ladies Aid and Missionary and Dorcas societies. She was widely known to older residents of the community through her years of association with Mr. Geiger in the operatioon of the Geiger Bakery. Funeral services are arranged for 2 p.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran church with the Rev. A.J. Prang officiating. Burial wil take place in Elmgrove cemetery. Friends may call at the late residence after noon Wednesday until 12 o'clock Friday when the body will be removed to the church to lie there in state until the hour of the services.
