Additional: Dr. Robert Kent Fleagle, 75, 1001 W. Spring St., St. Marys, died at 4:08 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at Valley Nursing Home in St. Marys following an extended illness. He was born Nov. 15, 1925, in Cecil, the son of Harold T. and Eva P. (Shook) Fleagle. On Feb. 28, 1953, he married Vera Ann Rudgal, who survives. Other survivors include five sons, Michael (Arlene) Fleagle of Bolingbrook, Ill., Tim (Tillie) Fleagle, Dr. Jeffrey (Marscia) Fleagle and Todd (Kathy) Fleagle, all of St. Marys and Thomas (Theresa) Fleagle of Dayton; a brother; Dr. LaMar (Norene) Fleagle of St. Marys; a sister, Janet (Al) Collins of Sterling Heights, Mich.; two sisters-in-law, Kay Fleagle of Chillicothe, Ill., and Ann Fleagle of Columbus; 19 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Dean Fleagle and Donald Fleagle, and a grandson, Daniel Fleagle. Dr. Fleagle was a retired dentist with 45 years service in St. Marys (1952-1997). He practiced general dentistry with his brother, Dr. LaMar D. Fleagle and was joined in 1981 by his son, Dr. Jeffrey D. Fleagle. He attended Bowling Green State University and graduated from Loyola University School of Dentistry in Chicago. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy on Board LST 816 in Pacific Theater as Chief Petty Officer. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in St. Marys. He served as past president of the St. Marys Kiwanis Club and was also a member of the St. Marys Outing Club (Idlewild), the St. Marys Rider Rooters and the American Dental Association. He was a founding member of the Auglize Mercer YMCA. He especially enjoyed gardening, traveling during his retirement, St.Marys Roughriders and Ohio State Buckeyes football and the company of his grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ with The Rev. Patricia G. Minnick, the Rev. John C. Wine and the Rev. Keith D. Stuck officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys prior to the funeral service. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or Valley Nursing Home Activities Fund.
