Additional: Richard M. Fischbach, 81, 405 W. South St., New Knoxville, died at 1:10 a.m. April 8 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. He was born Sept. 4, 1919, in Shelby County, to Elmer and LaRue (Dodds) Fischbach. On July 26, 1941, he married Deloris Kipp, who survives. Other survivors are a daughter and her husband, Jean and Gordon Coffin, New Bremen; two sisters and their husbands, Bernice and Albert Houts, New Bremen, and Shirley and Laverne Pax, Pickerington; a brother and his wife, Rodney and Rowena of Cambridge City, Ind., and a brother, Carrol of St. Marys; four sisters-in-law, Dorothy of Anna, Marie of St. Marys, Dorothea Wierwille, New Knoxville, and Evelyn Thatcher, Van Wert; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Deceased are two brothers, Paul and Orville, and a sister, Beverly Moeller. He was a retired truck driver at Airstream Corp., Jackson Center, and a former employee of Stamco in New Bremen. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was awarded the Battle Star, Oak Leaf Cluster and Purple Heart, after he was wounded serving in the infantry in France and Germany. He was a member of First United Church of Christ and American Legion Post 444, where he served as Post Chaplain, both New Knoxville. Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. David Hunt officiating. Burial with graveside rites performed by the American Legion is at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville. Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Contributions can be made to the church's radio broadcast fund. Vornholt-Miller Funeral Home, New Knoxville, handled arrangements.
