Additional: The first pang (of sorrow) was caused by the loss by death of one who had been an attendant at the church all her life, Mrs. J.A. Fike. When she passed away whe was in the full bloom of young womanhood, having only arrived at her 25th year on the 27th of the previous January, the date of her death being August 10, 1899. The funeral was a very large one, a great concourse of her old friends and neighbors meeting in the M.E. church on the Sunday afternoon. The Rev. T.R. Quayle made a statement concerning her decision for Christ two years previously and The Rev. Mr. Marquith, an old friend of the family preached the funeral sermon. She had been married to Isam Fike on Nov. 28, 1894 and left behind her two little children. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.C. McMillen.
