Additional: Emma Sophia Fischbach, 88, a resident of the Valley Nursing Home for the past three years, died at 5:35 a.m. Sunday in the nursing home following complications. She was born March 9, 1891, east of New Knoxville, the daughter of William and Sophia (Meckstroth) Shuelsmeyer (sic). On April 15, 1915, she was married to Emil Fischbach, who preceded her in death May 17, 1967. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Frank (Opal) Kelley of Sidney and Mrs. Wilbur (Marcella "Sally") Tontrup of New Bremen; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Fischbach was a member of the New Bremen Senior Citizens and the St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Gilberg Funeral Home, New Bremen, with the Rev. Richard B. Meckstroth officiating. Burial will be in Schwaberow Cemetery, east of New Bremen. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and until time of services on Wednesday. The family requests that memorials be directed to the St. Paul Church Memorial Fund.
