Additional: SUDDEN DEATH August Franke, The Well Known Druggist, Expires From an Attack of Apoplexy. August Franke, one of our best known citizens, was suddenly called from the scenes of earth on Sunday evening, November 12. Mr. Franke had been in ill-health for several months, but during most of the time he was able to give attention to his business. Sunday evening he was suddenly attacked with apoplexy, and died in a short time. August Franke was born March 31, 1847, at Osnabruck, Province of Hanover, Germany. His parents were Carl and Johanna (Cramer) Franke. He came to Wapakoneta in July, 1867, and after clerking in F. Fritch's drug store, he became a partner of the business. Four years later, he bought out Dr. Meyer, and has conducted the business ever since. He married Caroline Moser in 1869, who together with six children survive him. The funeral services took place at the residence yesterday, and was numerously attended by relatives and friends. Rev. R. Stave, of St. Paul's church, delivered the discourse and eloquently eulogized the character and life of the deceased. At 4:30 p. m. the remains were taken to the Cincinnati Crematory under and escort of members of Auglaize lodge of Odd Fellows, and incinerated. The sudden passing away of Mr. Franke cast a gloom over the community, and the bereaved family have the heartfelt sympathy of all our citizens.
