Additional: James D. Ewing, 85, of Buckland, died at 10:35 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 1998 at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born August 7, 1912, in Kossuth to Guy Corwin and Laura Graessle Ewing. On June 19, 1936, he married Veneda W. Schroer, who survives. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Wade C. and Barbara Ewing of Wapakoneta; Lynn A. and Mary Ann Ewing of Buckland; Meredith J. and Lois J. Ewing of Spencerville; two daughters and one son-in-law, Laureda E. Joslin of Lima and Lura J. and Thomas Hirt of Lima; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethleen Ewing and Edith St. Goddard. Mr. Ewing was the owner of the former O.K. Service Garage and Crosley Sales in Buckland. He was a member of the Buckland United Church of Christ, the Men's Brotherhood Mission Group and the Studebaker & Crosley Club. He had been a school bus driver for the Buckland Schools and had worked at the Wapakoneta Daily News and the Neil Armstrong Museum. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Buckland United Church of Christ with Paston Jeanette Rode officiating. Burial will follow in Buckland Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Bayliff and Son Funeral Home in Cridersville and from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to the Men's Brotherhood Mission Group.
