Additional: Wapakoneta—Verda Ramsey Campbell, 67, 903 Magnolia Drive, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999 at her residence. She was born June 18, 1932 in Logan Township to Theodore L. and Westa Goble Ramsey. On Dec. 21, 1973 she married G. Earl Campbell, who died Jan. 31, 1998. She is survived by one brother and sister-in-law John and Jean Ramsey of Bloomdale and a sister-in-law Mary Ramsey of St. Marys; a number of nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by six brothers: T. Allen, Walter, James and infants Robert, Ray and George Ramsey; and one sister Jennie Fett. Mrs. Campbell received a cadet certification in 1952; bachelor's and master's degrees from Bowling Green State University. She studied at other colleges including the university of New Hampshire, Miami University, Indiana University and Wright State University. She was a former member of the National Education Association, a member of the Ohio Education Association; a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Beta Upsilon Chapter and served as past president. She had served as vice president of the St. Auglaize Retired Teachers' Association and had served as president and vice president. She was a life member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, a former member of the Democrat Women's Club. She took part in establishing the Auglaize County Historical Society and was the first president. She helped establish and was the first president of the Reading Association of Auglaize County. She was a former member of the St. Marys Drama Club and served as president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer. She was a member of the Bethlehem Christian Union Church and was active with the Ladies Aides Group, director of the youth choir, Sunday school and Vaction Bible School teacher, church choir and former church secretary. She was a lecturer for reading and about Auglaize county history. She was named in Who's Who in Teaching in 1971. She was a recipient of the Jennings Foudation in 1973. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the church in Buckland with the Rev. Tim Bruns, Carl Miller and Leonard Spacht officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Uniopolis. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Long and Folk Funeral Home in Wapakoneta and one hour before service at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the church.
