Additional: Former Minster resident Olga M. Backs, 99, died at 12:30 a.m. July 27 at Provena Sacred Heart Home, Avilla, Ind., where she was a resident. She was born Jan. 4, 1901, in North Vernon, Ind., to Francis and Catherine (Hemmelgarn) Harlett. On Aug. 27, 1924, she married Dr. Leo H. Backs DDS, who died July 20, 1963. Survivors are two sons and their wives, Alton J. and Alice of South Bend, Ind., and Mark F. and Adele of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother and his wife, Manfred and Marce Harlett, Tiffin, and a brother, Arthur Harlett, Perrysburg; a sister and her husband, Julia and Robert Kern, Tiffin; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Deceased are two brothers and a sister. She was a former member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Minster. Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Milton Ballor officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Calling is 4-6 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster. Contributions can be made to the church.
