Additional: Mrs. Edith Bernard, age 62 of 625 Oil Street, died at 2:45 a.m. today at her home of a sudden heart attack. She had been in failing health for some years. Born in St. Marys, October 11, 1904, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Louisa Burkhart Hainline. She was married June 15, 1922 to Clarence F. (Newsy) Bernard, who survives with one son, Charles Bernard, St. Marys, two grandchildren, Michael and Michelle Bernard and a brother, Guy Hainline of this city. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bernard was a member of the Holy Rosary Church and the Rosary Altar Sodality of the church. During World War II she was very active in the Red Cross knitting program, knitting many sweaters for the Navy and Army personnel. A requiem high mass will be intoned Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Holy Rosary church with the Rev. Ferd W. Kylius to officiate. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call at the Vore and Folk funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday. Ladies of the parish will pray the Rosary in the funeral home after 7 p.m. Sunday.
