Additional: Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Siferd and Brookhart Funeral Home, Wapakoneta, for Sgt. Burl David Blackburn, who was killed January 11, 1945, at Luxemborg, in the Battle of the Bulge. He enlisted in the Army on March 9, 1943, going overseas on April 1, 1944. Born September 7, 1918, four miles northwest of Wapakoneta, he was the son of William and Luella Link Blackburn, who survive. On June 18, 1939, he married Emma Jane Schamp who also survives with the grandmother, Mrs. Anna Ambos of Wapakoneta; two brothers, Gale, of near St. Marys; and Guy of Wapakoneta; and one sister, Mrs. Frederick Koch of Cridersville. He had been employed at the Monarch, Sidney, previous to his enlistment Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery. The V.F.W. will have the military rites.
