Additional: James V. Axe Sr., 86, 327 N. West St., St. Marys, died at 5:26 a.m. July 12 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind. He was born Nov. 30, 1913, in St. Marys, to Joseph and Clara (Dieringer) Axe. On Nov. 21, 1936, he married Irene Beale, who died May 18, 1993. Survivors are two daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Stan Davis, St. Marys, and Jean and Warren Hentrich, Naperville, Ill.; a son and his wife, James Jr. and Carol of North Canton; a sister, Rose Margaret (Sis) Pfeffenberger, St. Marys; three brothers, Vincent of Spencerville, Dick of Kansas City, Mo.; and Mike of St. Marys; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Deceased are three daughters, Suzanne, Dianah and Deborah, and four brothers, Joe, Damion, Urban and Cletus. He was retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys, and was a loan officer at the Goodyear Credit Union. He was the first president of the Credit Union, a former councilman for the City of St. Marys, was past treasurer of United Rubber Workers Local 200, and served on the union's international executive board. He served in the Ohio National Guard and aided in the founding of the United Fund in St. Marys. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, and was a 1931 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Revs. David A. Heinl and James O. Byrne officiating. Burial is at Gethsemane Cemetery in St. Marys. Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys. Contributions can be made to the Holy Rosary School
