Additional: James J. Young, 71, 12070 Plattner Pike, St. Marys, died July 25 at his home. He was born May 6, 1929, in St. Marys, to Jacob and Margaret (Linton) Young. His mother survives in St. Marys. On Aug. 28, 1954, he married Grace Schrolucke, who survives in St. Marys. Other survivors are a daughter and her husband, Lynda and Glenn Hadley, Minster; a son, Timothy, of St. Marys; a sister, Shirley Jenkins, St. Marys; and two step-grandchildren. He was retired as an algebra, trigonometry and analytical geometry teacher at St. Marys Memorial High School. He also taught at Van Wert High School, served as the treasurer of Auglaize County Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities Council, was a United States Army veteran and coached two championship algebra teams in the Ohio Test of Scholastic Achievement. He was a member of Saint Paul's United Church of Christ, St. Marys, and Auglaize County Association of Retarded Citizens. He was a 1951 graduate of Bowling Green State University and a 1947 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. Services are 11 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Patricia Minnick officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys. Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys. Contributions can be made to the church or Auglaize Industries.
