Additional: Sam E. (Shird) Werts, age 75, of 917 West Spring Street where he made his home with his sister, Mrs. August Wieser, died at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Joint Township Memorial hospital. He had been admitted to the hospital earlier in the day. He had been in ill health for several years. Born in St. Marys, September 2, 1891, he was the son of the late Peter and Mary Jamison Werts, He had resided in Russells Point for 30 years before moving to St. Marys. In April of 1934 he married Mollie Woehner, who died in 1964. Surviving are his sister, Mrs. August (Helen) Weiser, St. Marys, two nieces, Mrs. Ferd (Mary) Helmstetter, St. Marys, and Mrs. Omar (Mary) Mary, Ft. Wayne and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Grace Werts, St. Marys. Three brothers, Will, Rollo and Ken Werts are deceased. Mr. Werts had served as draftsman for the city of Lima and had also been employed at the Lima Locomotive plant. In later years he was a realtor in the Russells Point area until his retirement. Funeral services will take place Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Vore and Folk funeral home. The Rev. Gordon Tatman will officiate with burial to follow in the Huntsville, O. cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
