Additional: Rebecca L. Wittwer, 69, died at her Aster Drive, Wapakoneta, residence at 10:24 p.m. Aug. 30. She was born Nov. 5, 1930, in Berne, Ind., to Fred and Earlene (Habegger) Nussbaum. On May 7, 1950, she married Donald R. Wittwer, who survives. Other survivors are two sons and their wives, Dean A. and Patricia of Wapakoneta, and Michael L. and Maria of Hudson; two daughters and their husbands, Anita and James Penhorwood, Lima, and Donna J. and Jan Castanza, Bowling Green; and a daughter, Ann Bruning, Toledo; five sisters and their husbands, Evangeline and Clarence Steiner, Bernice and Merlin Sprunger, Cleora and Warren Sprunger, and Karen and Bob Hart, all of Berne, Ind., and Marjorie and Neil Horn, Noblesville, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Virginia Nussbaum, Berne, Ind.; and eight grandchildren. Deceased are two sisters, Helen Jane Leichty and Lillian Herman, and a brother, Edward Nussbaum. She was retired as secretary for Auglaize County Land & Soil Conversation District. She was a member and past director of the Auglaize County Historical Society, past president of Wapakoneta Woman's Club, past director with American Red Cross, former Girl Scout advisor and a den mother with Boy Scouts. She volunteered at Wapakoneta YMCA, Auglaize County Board of Elections and Wapakoneta City Schools and was a member of Knight Out for Moms Club. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Wapakoneta, and its Christian Couples and served as past treasurer of the Altar Guild, past president with the WSWS, youth group advisor and member of the finance committee. Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, the Rev. G. Richard Bell officiating. Burial is at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta. Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Bayliff and Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta. Contributions can be made to the church's memorial fund or Wapakoneta Area Community Foundation Woman's Club Fund.
