Additional: Despondency because of ill health is blamed for the suicide today of Wright Shaeffer, age 35, farmer living near St. John on R.R.1 Wapakoneta. Mr. Shaeffer was found at 7:30 a.m. today in the barn at his farm by Charles Meyers and son to whom he had rented the fields when his health did not permit him to work. He had shot himself in the heart with a 12 gauge shotgun. Sheriff William Nieter, Deputy Arthur Lawler and Dr. R.C. Hunter, acting coroner, investigated the death. They learned the deceased had been very dispondent for several days. Mr. Shaeffer was prominently identified with church and fraternal organizations. He was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church at Wapakoneta, the Auglaize County 32 Club, the Scottish Rite order at Dayton, the Wayne Lodge 569 F & A.M., St. John I00F, and St. Johns Grange. He is survived by his widow, the former Edith Katterheinrich of New Knoxville, two sons, Lynn and Clyde, his mother, Mrs. Catherine Shaeffer, Wapakoneta and a sister, Mrs. Helen George, Wapakoneta. His father, Merle Shaeffer is deceased. Mr. and Mrs. N.P. Katterheinrich of New Knoxville are the parents-in-law of the deceased. Funeral services are arranged for 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Weygandt Funeral Home with the Rev. R. J. Loew officiating. Burial will take place in Fairmont cemetery. Friends may call after 2 o'clock Tuesday at the Weygandt Funeral Home.
