Additional: Rufus W. Settlage, 72, of R.R. 1, New Knoxville, was dead on arrival at 12:29 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 1985 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. His death was attributed to a sudden massive heart attack. Born March 14, 1912 in Washington Township, Auglaize County, he was the son of William J. and Ida Wellman Settlage. He was first married on June 25, 1936 to Marie M. Fledderjohann, who died Jan. 7, 1978. On July 21, 1979, he was married to Wilhelmina Shroyer, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Mrs. Jerry (Doris) Shroyer, St. Marys, and Mrs. Dan (Donna) Shroyer, New Bremen; and two stepchildren, John Shroyer of Sidney, and Mrs. Troy (Elaine) Watkins of Sidney; five grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren; a sister and a brother, Ruth Bambauer and Adrian Settlage, both of New Knoxville. Mr. Settlage was a member of the First United Church of Christ at New Knoxville, and a retired farmer. His services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, at the Vornholt Funeral Home, New Bremen, with the Rev. John F. Shroyer officiating. Burial will follow in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and until the time of services on Thursday.
