Additional: Leonard W. Schroer, 86, of 06620 Schultz Road, New Knoxville, died Monday, June 27, 1994, at 6:15 p.m. at St. Marys Living Center, following an extended illness. He was born July 12, 1907, in New Knoxville, the son of William and Anna (Holtkamp) Schroer. On August 31, 1930, he married Martha Hoelscher, who died July 15, 1981. Mr. Schroer is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Philip (Carol) Bishir of Marion, Ind., and Connie Opperman of Celina; one son, Lee Schroer of New Knoxville; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Hilda Jauert and Olga Kuck, and one brother, Joseph Schroer. Mr. Schroer was a retired farmer. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville, where he was a member of the church choir for many years. He was a graduate of New Knoxville High School. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville, with Rev. David Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Vornholt-Miller Funeral Home, New Knoxville, and one hour prior to the services at the church Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Church of Christ Scholarship Fund.
