Additional: Lawrence H. Schroeder, 77, formerly of 503 W. South St., New Knoxville, died at 3:50 a.m. today in Joint Township District Memorial Hospital of a stroke. He had been a patient of Auglaize Acres in Wapakoneta since February 19 1979. He was born May 2, 1903 northeast of New Knoxville, the son of Charles and Anna (Eschmeyer) Schroeder. On Aug. 24, 1927, he married Lydia Settlage who died May 6, 1978. Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Egan of New Knoxville; Mrs. Reuben (Lois) Eversman of Huntington, Ind.; two sons, Charles of Delaware and John of R.R.1, New Knoxville; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A grandson and two sisters, Selma Grueve and Evelyn Schroer, preceded him in death. Mr. Schroeder directed the Auglaize County CROP Drive for many years. He was a very active member of the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville. He was a retired farmer. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Richard W. Sather officating. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday and until 11 a.m. Saturday at Vornholt Funeral Home, New Knoxville. The body will then be moved to the church to lie in state until the time of the services. Preferred memorial is CROP.
