Additional: Esther Slattery, 70, 442 S. Walnut St., New Bremen, died March 22 in Naples, Fla. She was born April 5, 1930, in New Bremen, to Ralph and Marie (Finkenbine) Fogt. On July 10, 1953, she married Calvin L. Slattery, who survives. Other survivors are two daughters and their husbands, Kay and David Shapiro, Cullowhee, N.C., and Kim and Dave Doughtery, Cincinnati; a sister and her husband, Shirley and Richard Black, New Bremen; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Imogene and Frank Mox, Delphos, and Dana and Betty Slattery, Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters-in-law, Althea Ruedebusch and Margaret Slattery, both of Wapakoneta, and Geraldine Metzger, New Knoxville; and four grandchildren. She had worked at Schwieterman's Drug Store in New Bremen, and was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen. Services are 2 p.m. today at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, the Rev. John W. Tostrick officiating. Burial is at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen. Contributions can be made to the church's memorial fund.
