Additional: Norman M. Phillips, 77, 516 Maple St., Fostoria, died June 12 at Fostoria Community Hospital. He was born Feb. 17, 1924, in Tiffin, son of Julius and Flossie (Harrison) Phillips. On Aug. 15, 1942, he married Eileen M. Woodland, who survives. Other survivors are three daughters and their husbands, Sandra and Wetzel Ray, Lafayette, Kathy and Otto Blackburn, Fostoria, and Tracy and David Hierholzer, St. Marys; a sister, Mary Alice Swably, Tiffin, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Deceased is a brother, Robert, and a sister Madeline. He worked for A & P Grocery Store, Tiffin, and was manager for the A & P Stores in Bellevue, Fostoria, and Lima. He also worked at the Pantry Pride Store, St. Marys. He was a life member of St. Marys Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post and a member of St. Marys American Legion Post. He was of the Catholic faith. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, a staff sergeant serving in the American Theatre. He won the EAME ribbon, and had one Bronze Star Good Conduct Medal and a Bronze Star Victory Medal. Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hoffmann-Gottfried Funeral Home, Tiffin, the Rev. Al Wilkes officiating. Burial is at Greenlawn Cemetery, Tiffin, where military graveside services will be conducted by the United Veterans Council. Calling is 4-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
