Additional: Mitchel L. "Mickey" Newland, 64, Wapakoneta, died at 12:31 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 3, 1936, in Waynesfield, the son of Lewis and Nellie Irene (Gossard) Newland. Survivors include a sister, Janet (John) Sawmiller of Waynesfield; a niece, Jill (Mark) Stubbs of Lima; a nephew, Jed (Caril) Sawmiller of Seattle, Wash.; and three great-nephews. Mr. Newland was a laborer for Auglaize Industries. He was a member of Waynesfield Baptist Church, attended Wapakoneta Church of the Nazarene and was an honorary member of Waynesfield Senior Citizens. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Chiles and Sons-Lamen Funeral Home, Lewis Chapel, in Lima with the Rev. Stephen Smitley officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Branch Cemetery in Waynesfield. Friends may call from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
