Additional: Lydia Sarah Niemeyer, 94, of 104 E. Spring St., New Knoxville, died Wednesday , September 1, 1993, at 6:30 a.m. at Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys. She was born November 16, 1898, in Van Buren Township, Shelby County, the daughter of Ernst William and Sarah (Holtkamp) Elshoff. On December 13, 1917, she married Edward J. Niemeyer, who died March 5, 1954. Survivors include one daughter, Ruth L. Niemeyer of New Knoxville; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Ruth A. Niemeyer of New Knoxville; one daughter-in-law, Marjean V. Niemeyer of Wapakoneta; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Alvena Niemeyer of New Knoxville; and one brother, Harvey Elshoff of St. Marys. She was preceded in death by one son, Reuben Niemeyer, one great-grandson, Kyle Niemeyer, one sister, Selma Haberkamp and two brothers, Floranz and Walter Elshoff. A homemaker, Mrs. Niemeyer was a charter member of the American Legion Post 444 Auxiliary. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ, the Adult Sunday School Class and Women's Guild of New Knoxville. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville, with Rev. David Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville. Friends may call at the Vornholt-MIller Funeral Home, New Knoxville, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church Broadcast Fund.
