Additional: Roland F. Meckstroth, 64, of 215 S. West St., St. Marys, died at 12:51 p.m. Monday in the emergency room of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys. He was transported there by the St. Marys Fire Department Paramedics after an apparent heart attack while at work at the Hoge Lumber Company in New Knoxville, where he was a boiler operator for 46 years. He was born in New Knoxville, October 1, 1922, to Ferd and Jennie Katterhenry (sic) Meckstroth. His father survives. Also surviving is his wife, Wilma Buschur Meckstroth, whom he married on August 30, 1947. Other survivors include three duaghters, Mrs. Jim (Pam) Thomas of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Joan Meckstroth and Mrs. Jerry (Judy) Schultz both of St. Marys; one son Tim Meckstroth, also of St. Marys; five grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Marvin (Lois) Schuller of New Knoxville. He was preceded in death by one brother, Dale Meckstroth. A Veteran of the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II, Mr. Meckstroth was a life member of the American Legion Post 3444, New Knoxville, and also a life member of VFW Post 9289, St. Marys. He belonged to the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the church at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Rev. Leo A. Hoying officiating. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Long & Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home Thursday at 10 a.m. for prayers febore the service. Memorials may be given to the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Building fund or to the Heart Association.
