Additional: Dr. Emil J. Meckstroth, 79, died Wednesday, February 20 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Sandusky, following a brief illness. He was born at New Knoxville on September 27, 1900, the son of Charles A. and Anna (Lammers) Meckstroth. On August 17, 1927, he married Mary E. West, who survives. Other survivors include a son James, of Wisconsin, two daughters, Mrs. Joann Schneider, of Attica; and Mrs. Mary Jane Ritter, of Cedar Point; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are two brothers, Jacob A. Meckstroth, of Columbus; and the Rev. Richard B. Meckstroth, of New Knoxville; and two sisters Mrs. Matilda Fledderjohann, Mounty Clemens, Mich; and Mrs. Meta Hoge of New Knoxville. Dr. Meckstroth was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Sandusky, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Glenn Coleman officiating. The body will lie in state in the First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville, from approximately 2-2:30 p.m. Saturday. Burial will take place in German Protestant Cemetery, New Knoxville. Dr. Meckstroth was a graduate of New Bremen High School and the Ohio State School of Medicine and did postgraduate work in Prague and Budepest, Czechoslovakia. He was in medical practice for 50 years and retired in November 1978.
