He was born June 10, 1921, in St. Marys, to Charles Nelson and Lulu (Pfeiffer) McCann. On July 20, 1946, he married Gloria Burgett, who survives. Other survivors are a son and his wife, Michael S. and Joyce of Gibsonton, Fla.; a daughter and her husband, Kathleen and Dick Craft, St. Marys; a mother-in-law, Elizabeth Limbacher, St. Marys; six grandchildren and five great-granchildren. Deceased are a sister, Norma Reiher, and a granddaughter. He was self-employed as a decorating and painting contractor in the St. Marys area, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, St. Marys, American Legion Post 323, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289, serving as (Mick-O) with its Clown Unit. He was a 1939 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. Services are 4 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Patricia G. Minnick officiating. Private family burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys. Calling is one hour prior to services Thursday. Contributions can be made to the Activities Fund at Valley Nursing Home.
