Lengerich, 65, Wapakoenta-Fryburg Road, Wapakoneta, died at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2001 at his residence He was born Feb. 11, 1936 in St. Marys, the son of Bernard and Elizabeth (Arnett) Lengerich. On Jan. 31, 1959, he married Sylvia M. Reed, who survives. He is also survived by three sons, Robert of Lima, Gary of Maplewood, Karl of St. Marys; a daughter Lisa Lengerich of Toledo, seven grandchildren; one brother, Bernard "Ed" of St. Marys; a sister, Elizabeth Hauenstein of Lima; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. Mr. Lengerich was a truck driver and later worked as a corrections officer with Auglaize County Sheriff's Office. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Fryburg. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Auglaize County Post 76 and a member of the Teamsters Union. He was a former member of the Wapakoneta Eagles 691 and a former member of American Legion Post 446 in Anna. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in England. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed woodworking. He graduated from St. Marys Memoral High School in 1954. A mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m Saturday at St. John Catholic Church in Fryburg, with the Rev. Oscar Sager officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in St. John Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta, where a parish wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Rita's Hospice.
